Hugo Chavez's Venezuela 'supplies half of Britain's cocaine'

(Telegraph) President Hugo Chavez's Venezuela has become the key trafficking route for most of the cocaine sold on Britain's streets, anti-drugs officials believe.

Last year, about 250 tons of cocaine are thought to have passed through Venezuela - up to a five-fold increase on 2004. Much of this ended up in Britain.

Anti-drugs officials estimate that more than 50 per cent of all the cocaine consumed in Britain has been trafficked through Venezuela - under the "revolutionary" regime of Mr Chavez. The figure could be as high as two thirds.

Senior commanders in Venezuela's security forces are thought to be profiting from the trade and actively helping the smugglers, notably by allowing them to use military airfields.

European Court Requested to Judge Chavez

The Plataforma de Venezolanos en Madrid (Venezuelans in Madrid Platform), an NGO that launched a campaign entitled "Judge Chávez," expects the initiative will instill awareness in the international community.

The organization has made known their request made at The Hague International Criminal Court to investigate into Venezuelan President Hugo Chávez for his alleged ties with the Colombian Revolutionary Armed Forces (FARC). They think that there is enough evidence to review the case and now more than ever, as appears from the files retrieved from the laptop of guerilla leader Raúl Reyes, who was killed on March 1st during a military raid, AP reported.

If the ICC authorizes an investigation for a subsequent trial, it would be the first time that the court would hear a case related to an incumbent head of state.

For the time being, no date has been set for a decision. "It is a complex, long process, but we are confident," said William Cárdenas, an attorney with the organization.

"Now, we would like to host a huge event with associations from all over Europe in Madrid. Right now, we have the support of 30 organizations."

Scoop about Tarantino's Next Project

Harry from Ain't it Cool News has some news about the so expected second war epic flick from one of my favorite directors Quentin Tarantino, INGLORIOUS BASTARDS... and as Kill Bill, apparently the project will be divided in 2 parts.

Here you have...

Hey folks, Harry here - Some days when I open up my mail, I literally feel like the luckiest son of a bitch to draw a breath. In the last couple of weeks - Quentin Tarantino sat down with Enzo Castellari to do an interview with Enzo regarding his awesome exploitation Men on a Mission film... INGLORIOUS BASTARDS... yes, the same title as the film that Tarantino is apparently set to be making soon.

Now - there's been some movement on this project at long last. Quentin has been writing on it for over 6 years. And it was always about to be his next film. We've heard casting from Arnold, Sly & Bruce to Tim Roth, Sam Jackson, John Travolta and on and on and on... We've had interviews from those personalities talking about talking about talking with Quentin about the movie... but what's the real story?

According to IMDB the movie(s) is/are set to release on 2010 (although some rumors say Tarantino plans to show the movie(s) on 2009 Cannes Film Festival. Inglorious Bastards is a remake of an 1978 Italian film of the same name.

Fidel Castro New Images Likely a Montage

We can't see the both dictators' faces together, Hugo Chavez is always on his backside and the image of Fidel Castro is blurred in front of a blurred background. Also we can see more hair on Fidel's head, implant everyone?

Fidel Castro is dead long time ago, they are trying to keep him alive as a myth.

US accuses Venezuelan diplomat of working for Hezbollah

(El Universal) The US on Wednesday accused a Venezuelan diplomat, Ghazi Nasr al Din, of working for Hezbollah and stated that the Venezuelan government is "providing safe harbor" to agents of the radical Islamic Shiite group, reported Efe.

Al-Din had served until recently as charge d'affaires at the Venezuelan embassy in Damascus. He is currently working as political affairs director of the Venezuelan embassy in Lebanon, reported the US Treasury Department's Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC).

"It is extremely troubling to see the Government of Venezuela employing and providing safe harbor to Hezbollah facilitators and fundraisers. We will continue to expose the global nature of Hezbollah's terrorist support network, and we call on responsible governments worldwide to disrupt and dismantle this activity," said Adam Szubin, Director of the OFAC.

Human Rights Foundation responds to President Correa’s accusations

Human Rights Foundation responds to President Correa’s accusations and declares Guadalupe Llori a political prisoner of Ecuador’s government

NEW YORK (June 18, 2008) -- The Human Rights Foundation (HRF) released a letter yesterday in response to the accusations made by Ecuadorian President Rafael Correa regarding a May 12 letter from HRF denouncing human rights violations. At that time, HRF condemned violations resulting from the Tax Equity Reform Law enacted by Ecuador’s Constituent Assembly, namely: restrictions of the right of citizens to take part in public affairs and restrictions of their rights to due process and access to justice.

In his response of May 20, President Correa accused HRF of defending the “interests of Ecuador’s oligarchies and political elites.” President Correa added that HRF’s work is an act of “insolence” since it “dares” to “revise” the current Ecuadorian constitutional reform system with a “clear ideological bias.” President Correa’s letter suggests that HRF dedicate its resources to “more legitimate causes, instead of defending particular interests.”

In the letter sent yesterday, HRF reminds President Correa that he has failed to respond to two other letters sent earlier this year (dated February 20 and March 18), in which HRF denounced numerous human rights violations perpetrated by “Ecuador’s political elites,” specifically the army and government officials. These violations include the arbitrary arrest and incarceration of Guadalupe Llori, Governor of Orellana, first imprisoned for terrorism charges which were dropped due to lack of evidence. She remains in prison on equally unsubstantiated charges of embezzlement. HRF believes that her continued imprisonment is a result of her expression of opinions critical of President Correa.

HRF cites the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (Article 2) in response to the claim of an ideological bias: human rights are universal and inherent to every human being, and governments are compelled to protect them “without distinction of any kind, such as race, colour, sex, language, religion, political or other opinion, national or social origin, property, birth or other status.” HRF believes that history has shown that governments that overtly violate human rights typically justify themselves by making such “distinctions” against people whose opinions differ from their own, as in the case of Guadalupe Llori.

In response to President Correa’s assertion that HRF is insolent for denouncing a law that was passed by the Constituent Assembly, HRF notes that international law dictates that whenever human rights are violated by a state, it does not matter whether the violation is in the form of a decree passed by the president, a law passed by the legislative body, or a constitutional reform passed by a constituent assembly. In any of those cases, a state, including its main officials, must face condemnation by the international community and, eventually, be judged by an international court. “Otherwise,” states the letter, “human right violators such as Slobodan Milosevic or Augusto Pinochet, would have never been prosecuted internationally, for they never hesitated in ‘constituting,’ ‘legislating’ or ‘decreeing’ those violations.”

HRF reaffirms its will and commitment to defending human rights in Ecuador, even if it means condemning a law passed by the Constituent Assembly—especially considering that by eliminating Ecuador’s legislative body, and, as a result, the pluralistic system of political parties and organizations, the Assembly violates Article 3 of the Inter-American Democratic Charter.

Finally, as to President Correa’s suggestion that HRF use its resources on “more legitimate causes,” HRF Chairman Armando Valladares quotes the letter, saying, “As we have done in the past, we will continue investigating human rights violations and personally visiting victims in Ecuador, especially those imprisoned for their political beliefs by the government.” Effective immediately, HRF considers Guadalupe Llori a political prisoner and prisoner of conscience of the Correa government.

HRF is an international nonpartisan organization devoted to defending human rights in the American hemisphere. It centers its work on the twin concepts of freedom of self-determination and freedom from tyranny. These ideals include the belief that all human beings have the rights to speak freely, to associate with those of like mind, and to leave and enter their countries. Individuals in a free society must be accorded equal treatment and due process under law, and must have the opportunity to participate in the governments of their countries; HRF’s ideals likewise find expression in the conviction that all human beings have the right to be free from arbitrary detainment or exile and from interference and coercion in matters of conscience. HRF’s International Council includes former prisoners of conscience Vladimir Bukovsky, Palden Gyatso, Armando Valladares, Ramón J. Velásquez, Elie Wiesel, and Harry Wu.

Opposition rejects ban on regional candidates

(El Universal)Venezuelan grassroots movement and students ask OAS to speak up

Grassroots movement and student representatives submitted on Friday to the Organization of American States (OAS) a paper requesting the organization to take a stance on the disqualification of 400 candidates to state governments and moralities in the election next November 23rd.

Yuri Blanco, vice-president of Participation and Networking of Caracas's parishes Caricuao and Macario, voiced disagreement with the measure announced by Comptroller General Clodosbaldo Russián.

"We, Caracas' folks are here to tell Mr. Russián and the national government that we are not to let them to bar people (from political practice); that we have the right to be candidates and to elect," she said.

Blanco urged local communities to jump in defense of their right to make a choice.

Socialist International refuses Comptroller's action to bar politicians

The Socialist International issued a press release to voice its "concern about the decision made by administrative authorities of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, who, without issuing any conviction, deny more than 400 citizens the right to run as candidates in the next local elections to be held on November 23rd of this year."
"Such a decision causes today widespread concern and uneasiness in the Venezuelan and international public opinion, seemingly contravening the right of the citizens of that country to run as candidates, and also their right to elect the candidate of their choice. Additionally, a large proportion of these barred people are members of the democratic opposition," the text pointed out.
The Socialist International made an appeal to observe the legitimate rights of the people disqualified in this way and urged to restore immediately all their political and civil rights.

Tim Robbins Visited Venezuela

It was just about time to see this happened. Tim Robbins, great friend of Sean Penn has visited Venezuela few days ago, in order to take a look to Villa del Cine, this big production studios created by Hugo Chavez to supposedly compete with Hollywood.

Villa del Cine is located in Guarenas town, few kilometers to the east of Caracas. Tim Robbins expressed his desire to maybe start a production here, so he visited other places in Venezuela, such as Coro city in Falcon state.

Robbins also met Venezuelans filmmakers Roman Chalbaud, Carlos Caridad Montero and Alfredo Hueck, among others. Bosnian filmmaker Emir Kusturica also visited Villa del Cine back on April.

I just to wished to let them know that every screenplay need the approval of Hugo Chavez. Try to make a movie critize them, or even worst, one about April 2002 events, they won't let you make it.

Chavez urging FARC to end armed struggle?

So, what's happened here?... what such a coincidence, a 2 days after Colombian authorities arrested 2 Venezuelans soldiers with munitions who were being send to FARC, Chavez now is madly asking the Terrorist Group to stop the armed struggle and free the hostages. And even more, saying a Guerrilla is out of place in Latin America... what's up with that thing about accepting FARC belligerence?... is Hugo Chavez chickens out?

CARACAS, Venezuela - Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez urged Colombian rebels on Sunday to lay down their weapons, unilaterally free dozens of hostages and put an end to a decades-long armed struggle against Colombia's government.

Forces of Colombia, or FARC, saying their ongoing efforts to overthrow Colombia's democratically elected government were unjustified.

"The guerrilla war is history," said Chavez, speaking during his weekly television and radio program, "Hello President."

"At this moment in Latin America, an armed guerrilla movement is out of place."

Such declarations were unexpected from Chavez, a self-described socialist who earlier this year called on world governments to remove the FARC from terrorist lists and suggested the guerrillas should be recognized as a legitimate insurgent force.

Addressing new FARC leader Alfonso Cano, Chavez said, "I think the time has come to free all of the hostages you have. It would be a great, humanitarian gesture. In exchange for nothing." [...]

Wiesenthal Center accoused Venezuela Embassador of Antisemitism

The Wiesenthal Center has accused the Venezuela Ambassador in Russia, Alexis Navarro of being antisemitic and ask for his removal from that Office.

Ambassador Alexis Navarro accused Israel Mossad to participate in April 2002 events, that Chavez Regime called coup d'etat.

An interview with the antisemitism comments can be found on Moscow News, also there is this picture of his office, with a big Kalashnikov on his desktop.

These snipers were citizens of Venezuela but were Jews. After the defeat of the insurgents all these snipers disappeared.
Ambassador Navarro

By th way, everything he has said on that interview is bullsh*t

Oh, and Regarding the Balkan Countries, look what this as*hole has to say:

Earlier these peoples lived in peace. What is good for the Pentagon is usually bad for peoples of the world... .... I like very much Soviet movies... ...I like very much Stalingrad

Where was him when Slobodan Miloseviç was exterminating people?

Here is the note from the Wiesenthal Center:

Wiesenthal Center Urges Immediate Recall from Russia of Venezuela’s Ambassador Due to Antisemitic Statements

The Simon Wiesenthal Centre is urging the Foreign Minister of Venezuela, Nicolas Maduro, to remove Alexis Rafael Navarro Rojas, Venezuela’s Ambassador to Russia, following antisemitic statements he made to a Moscow daily.

In its May 15, 2008 edition, Moscow News published an interview in which Ambassador Navarro Rojas said that among those involved in a failed coup d’etat of April 11, 2002, aimed at overthrowing Hugo Chávez, there were "many Mossad snipers, who were Venezuelan citizens but Jews."

In a letter to the minister, Dr. Shimon Samuels (Director for International Relations of the Wiesenthal Center) and Sergio Widder (Latin American Representative) called Navarro Rojas’ statements outrageous. "It seems that, for the ambassador, Venezuelan Jews belong to a different category of citizens, which should be particularly singled out."

"This is not the first time that high officials of the government of Venezuela make anti-Jewish comments. The words of Ambassador Navarro Rojas are racist, and incite to violence against Jews, not only in Venezuela, but throughout the region. His words are inspired by such conspiracy theories as the "Protocols of the Elders of Zion", the libel that was first published in 1905, in czarist Russia, and is the Bible for contemporary antisemites. The ambassador of a country that proclaims itself the architect of a 21st century Socialism spouts the same fascist sources that were responsible for millions of Russian deaths in the 20th century,” the added.

"Mr. Minister, at this week’s OAS General Assembly in Medellin, you defended Venezuela’s democratic standards. We thus expect Ambassador Navarro Rojas be immediately recalled for his undiplomatic, offensive and racist assault on your country’s reputation,” concluded Samuels and Widder.

Institutional Guard Manifesto

Anonymous Manifesto that apparently is circulating into all Venezuela military headquarters.

"Before God and the Homeland we swear,
With sincere and deep emotion,
That the duty for watchword takes,
And for discharge it Sights the Honor."
National Anthem of Venezuela National Guard.

In the year 1936, the General López Contreras inspires you by the most illustrious and honorable institutions in the world by founding the National Guard of Venezuela. Later on, in the 1948, the Commandant Oscar Tamayo Suárez, infuses him own identity to this noble institution. Our symbols, shields, services and hymn arise.

Arduous and valiant task has turned the National Guard from those years in and it advances to serve the Venezuelan citizens and to be won its respect. It is the Guard friend, of the Guard judge, the valiant Guard, and humble Guard. It is that invested Venezuelan of authority that is safe guarantor of justice to the citizen in border towns or neighborhoods of the cities.

The people doesn't have doubts, the true reason of being of the GN <National Guard> is the professional troop, is the National Guard, not the General, neither the Colonel who has sat down the bases of what today is of institution. It is the Guard National who graduated from Ramo Verde, Cordero or Punta de Mata, the one that takes risks, the one that really feel hurt to see they put an end to so noble institution the General ones whose only interest is to arrive and to stay in the power.

Is the Professional Troop, the Cabos and Sergeants, those that the last year raised their voices in protest when the Government sought to eliminate the GN to transform it into Territorial Guard. They were the Distinguished ones, Cabos and Sergeants the only ones that protested in the 2005 when the CORE-8 was eliminated. They are the common, distinguished Guards, Cabos and Sergeants who are really hurt their partners were murdered brutally in Perija, Cutuffi or the La Charca.

Us, the common citizens, we are the people of Venezuela, victims of the ambition of the Government and corrupt Politicians. You, the professional troop, they are the National Guard's people, victim of the corrupt ambition of the General and the Official. And today, people of the GN and people of Venezuela, we should unite to protest and to stop so much abuse, so much violation and insult.

Yes, it is an abuse, to know that so much money exists in this country and we have miserable wages, we don't have uniforms, it doesn't exist social services and the muggers makes what they wants in the street. It is an insult to our dignity the relationship of friendship and homages that this Government surrenders to the FARC, that group that he kidnaps and it extorts to the people, that group that he murders our troops in the frontiers. It is a violation to our history GN to accept today all our functions and institutional services, seek to be completed by a National Police to the Government's service and not to the Venezuelan State's.

It is for that reason that today the call is to the protest, the call is to put on beside the National Constitution, the call is to put on beside the worthy history that our ancestors built to who today surrenders homage.

We, as Organized Civil Corporation, inspired by the word of God, to the service of those but weak, to the service of the defenseless voices of this Country and against the injustice and the oppression, we make a call to achieve the attention of you, of the Venezuelans and to the World, and to scream from the bottom of our heart that Venezuela is a country that we love , that is a piece of this Earth that belongs to us and because of that we defend it, and we will protest today, tomorrow and always against those who seek to continue putting an end to our HOMELAND.

What, because, will we say to this? If God is for us, Who against us? Roman 8:31-32

Colombia Detains 2 Venezuelan Soldiers in Way to FARC

Just minutes ago, Colombia Government has announced 2 Venezuelans National Guard was detained in the border with Venezuela.

The 2 persons was carrying 40 thousand ammo, the 2 national guards was sending this supply to terrorist group FARC, so this could be a mayor proof (and a consequently scandal and dispute between the 2 countries) of the support Hugo Chavez Regime has been giving to the terrorist group.

This happen just a day after Chavez Regime detained a journalist from Colombia TV station RCN when he was near by a house from the Minister of Defense when, according a Venezuelan journalist, Nelson Bocaranda, one of the leader of the FARC was hidden. Chavez Regime immediately released the journalist and denied he was detained.

Chavez Regime Being Prepared for War

Hugo Chavez has criticized in several occasion the warlord attitude of George W. Bush, but has he looking into the mirror recently.

Chavez Regime, under strong instruccion by Hugo Chavez already started why they call "Socialist Homeland 2008", that is get all the army toys ready for a war, starting with the Sukhois planes Russian Putin gave to Chavez, and some missiles ground - air.

Here is a picture of the life broadedcasting transmission made by the Official State TV, VTV, just exactly as Soviet Union, Communist Regime and Facsist Regime did.

Everybody in Venezuela knows what that is, just to try to intimidate and looking for the opposition and Venezuelans to get the attention on this and forget the upcoming regional elections where the Opposition has strong probabilities to get all the states and most of the municipalities.

HRW: Venezuela Should Clarify Relationship With Colombian Guerrillas

Recovered Emails Suggest Chávez Support for FARC

(Washington, DC, June 3, 2008) – The Venezuelan government should provide a full accounting of its relationship with Colombian guerrillas responsible for war crimes and crimes against humanity, Human Rights Watch said today.

In 2007, Venezuelan President Hugo Chávez served as a mediator, with the authorization of the Colombian government, in efforts to secure the release of prisoners held by the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (Fuerzas Armadas Revolucionarias de Colombia, FARC). Yet email messages found on laptop computers reportedly recovered from a FARC encampment by Colombian security forces in March 2008 describe meetings in which Venezuelan officials also appear to have offered assistance to the Colombian guerrillas, including safe havens, weapons procurement, and possibly even financial support.

Interpol announced on May 15 that its forensic experts had verified that the computer files were authentic and had not been modified in any way while in the custody of Colombian authorities, though they did not assess the accuracy or source of their contents. Chávez dismissed Interpol’s findings as a “clown show that doesn't deserve a serious response.”

“The emails raise serious questions about Venezuela’s relationship with the Colombian guerrillas that deserve serious answers,” said José Miguel Vivanco, Americas director at Human Rights Watch. “At the very least, they appear to show that the guerrilla commanders who were engaged in horrendous abuses believed they had the backing of the Venezuelan government.”

Human Rights Watch has not had direct access to the computer files. But according to excerpts released by the Colombian government and reviewed by Human Rights Watch, the files contain email correspondence in which FARC commanders recount multiple meetings with Venezuelan officials. These messages refer to a meeting in which President Chávez reportedly offered to provide the FARC with safe havens within Venezuelan territory. They also mention meetings in which two Venezuelan generals, Hugo Carvajal Barrios and Clíver Alcalá Cordones, appear to offer the guerrillas assistance in procuring weapons. The email message refers to another meeting in which Interior Minister Ramón Rodríguez Chacín reportedly promised to facilitate the delivery of arms shipments to the guerrilla group. In addition, there are several email messages that allude to what appear to be offers of financial support to the FARC, including allocating to the guerrillas an oil ration which they could sell for profit. Explosion at The Planet Datacenter

Latest Updates Check Here

An explosion at ThePlanet.com datacenter has provoked the shutdown of thousands of servers and websites worldwide, including Venezuelan Political and News sites Noticiero Digital and Venezolanos en Linea.

According to a person who works there, info posted gathered from DigitalPoint Forum:

This evening at 4:55 in our H1 data center, electrical gear shorted, creating an explosion and fire that knocked down three walls surrounding our electrical equipment room Thankfully, no one was injured. In addition, no customer servers were damaged or lost.

We have just been allowed into the building to physically inspect the damage. Early indications are that the short was in a high-volume wire conduit. We were not allowed to activate our backup generator plan based on instructions from the fire department.

This is a significant outage, impacting approximately 9,000 servers and 7,500 customers. All members of our support team are in, and all vendors who supply us with data center equipment are on site. Our initial assessment, although early, points to being able to have some service restored by mid-afternoon on Sunday. Rest assured we are working around the clock.

We are in the process of communicating with all affected customers. we are planning to post updates every hour via our forum and in our customer portal. Our interactive voice response system is updating customers as well.

There is no impact in any of our other five data centers.

I am sorry that this accident has occurred and apologize for the impact.
Brooke Kyle, Marketing Manager for The Planet said this:

Tonight at 5:45 p.m. here in Houston, a transformer in our H1 data in Houston caught fire, which required us to take down all generators as instructed by the fire department. All servers in the H1 data center are down, as is our ServerCommand customer portal, which are working to move to another data center....
...Our management team and facilities staff are on site evaluating the situation. In our latest assessment, we have determined that networking gear has not been damaged, but we are without power so assessments continue. All disaster recovery systems are in motion, and we have teams already working in the data center.

As you may have already noticed, our forum servers continue to lag due to very heavy load. This is in part to due to the fact that our outage is now being carried on several sites (including Slashdot). Even though we added servers to our forums last night, we are looking at alternatives at this time to provide simple status updates quickly.

We are still working on getting all management systems up, but Legacy EV1 domain customers can access a backup management panel hosted by Tucows at https://manage.opensrs.net. There are some limitations to these backup systems, changes may be restricted if the domain is locked, and use may be intermittent until the servers hosting the main domain management systems in H1 are back online.
Updated June 1st 11:00pm (EST)

As previously committed, I would like to provide an update on where we stand following yesterday's explosion in our H1 data center. First, I would like to extend my sincere thanks for your patience during the past 28 hours. We are acutely aware that uptime is critical to your business, and you have my personal commitment that The Planet team will continue to work around the clock to restore your service.

As you have read, we have begun receiving some of the equipment required to start repairs. While no customer servers have been damaged or lost, we have new information that damage to our H1 data center is worse than initially expected. Three walls of the electrical equipment room on the first floor blew several feet from their original position, and the underground cabling that powers the first floor of H1 was destroyed.

There is some good news, however. We have found a way to get power to Phase 2 (upstairs, second floor) of the data center and to restore network connectivity. We will be powering up the air conditioning system and other necessary equipment within the next few hours. Once these systems are tested, we will begin bringing the 6,000 servers online. It will take four to five hours to get them all running.

We have brought in additional support from Dallas to have more hands and eyes on site to help with any servers that may experience problems. The call center has also brought in double staff to handle the increase in tickets we're expecting. Hopefully by sunrise tomorrow Phase 2 will be well on its way to full production.

Let me next address Phase 1 (first floor) of the data center and the affected 3,000 servers. The news is not as good, and we were not as lucky. The damage there was far more extensive, and we have a bigger challenge that will require a two-step process. For the first step, we have designed a temporary method that we believe will bring power back to those servers sometime tomorrow evening, but the solution will be temporary. We will use a generator to supply power through next weekend when the necessary gear will be delivered to permanently restore normal utility power and our battery backup system. During the upcoming week, we will be working with those customers to resolve issues.

We know this may not be a satisfactory solution for you and your business but at this time, it is the best we can do.

We understand that you will be due service credits based on our Service Level Agreement. We will proactively begin providing those following the restoration of service, which is our number priority, so please bear with us until this has been completed.

I recognize that this is not all good news. I can only assure you we will continue to utilize every means possible to fully restore service.

I plan to have an audio update tomorrow evening.

Until then,

Douglas J. Erwin
Chairman & Chief Executive Officer
