Major blackout, almost half of Venezuela

Carabobo, Zulia, Lara, Miranda, Yaracuy, Falcón, Mérida, Táchira, Portuguesa, Aragua, Barinas states and capital Caracas without power supply. The blackout occurred around 4:00pm and last for several hours, causing real chaos at some points of the big cities, specially in Caracas.

Caracas subway system totally shutdown until tomorrow. An damage on Guri Dam in Bolivar state was reported the problem. Minister of Interior and Justice gave a press meeting informing about the problem and the actions taken by them in order to re-establish the power supply.

The National Assembly also was affected by the blackout, while deputies were discussing the expropriation of SIDOR steel company.

This blackout just coincide with some protests in Bolivar state for continuous problems with the power supply and the companies who offer the service (btw, all of them under Chavez control).

Airplane Crashed on Residential Area

A light plane with at least 2 persons aboard crash in a residential in a zone known as Catia La Mar, in Vargas state.

The plane was just departed from Simon Bolivar International Airport, en route to Curaçao. The light plane (PIPER, model PA-34) crashed into a house near by a school (Emilio Gimón Sterling), 6 persons died because the impact, most of them residents of the house, there are also others wounded, according to latest reports. Among the deaths there are a 10 year-old little girl.

Fortunately all the children from the school are OK.

It's transcendence in Venezuela, that one of the passengers of the plane who crashed is no one else but a co-founder of Smartmatic company, the company of the polemic voting machines from the Referendum Recall of 2004, during that time, the president of the National Electoral Council was Jorge Rodríguez, the same who were Vice-President of Venezuela until some months ago, and the same who lead the Yes vote on the Constitutional Reform.... coincidence?

Update: New shocking revelations on this plane crash, turns out the pilot was a persons currently imprisoned for drug trafficking, he was on open regime (as a free with parole officer) , but with a prohibition to go out of the country. Despite of that, he was traveling to Curaçao.

Venezuelan student leader who challenged Chavez wins prize

Note: The CATO (English / Spanish) officially announced the winner of the Milton Friedman Advancing in Liberty award, and confirmed is indeed Yon Goicoechea.

Yon Goicoechea Named Recipient of the 2008 Milton Friedman Prize for Advancing Liberty

Yon Goicoechea, leader of the pro-democracy student movement in Venezuela, has been awarded the 2008 Milton Friedman Prize for Advancing Liberty. Under Goicoechea's leadership, the student movement organized mass opposition to the erosion of human and civil rights in Venezuela and played the key role in defeating Hugo Chávez's bid for a constitutional reform that would have turned the country into a dictatorship. Goicoechea's vision of optimism, tolerance, and modernity have breathed new life into efforts to defend basic freedoms in Venezuela and elsewhere in Latin America where freedom is threatened.
[IHT/Associated Press] -- A U.S.-based think tank has awarded a US$500,000 (€314,000) prize to the leader of a student protest movement that has posed a potent challenge to Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez.

University student Yon Goicoechea became a household name in Venezuela last year after he led protests that were widely seen as a key factor in the defeat of sweeping constitutional changes proposed by Chavez.

The Washington-based Cato Institute said it would announce the 23-year-old as winner of the Milton Friedman Prize for Advancing Liberty on Thursday.

"I see it as a collective prize. The prize is being given to me, but it's being given to me as a representative of something much bigger," Goicoechea told The Associated Press in an interview. "It's an acknowledgment of the work that has been done in promoting freedom."

Goicoechea took a central role last year in rallying students to oppose what he sees as threats to personal liberties and democracy in Venezuela. The constitutional changes rejected by voters in December would have let Chavez run for re-election indefinitely and would have granted him broad powers to reshape the economy and society in a socialist mold.

The libertarian think tank said Goicoechea was chosen for his leadership in advocating for democratic values.

"He managed to effectively give voice to millions of Venezuelans who believed in democracy, tolerance and modernity, and who felt that they were being left out of politics," said Ian Vasquez, director of the institute's Center for Global Liberty and Prosperity.

Goicoechea, a law student who will soon graduate from Andres Bello Catholic University in Caracas, said he plans to use the prize money to support Venezuela's student parliament, donate to his university and former school, and support a foundation he is helping to set up that will offer training to young leaders who want to play a role in politics.

He and others working to establish the foundation have traveled to countries including Bolivia and Argentina in recent months, meeting with student groups there. The foundation aims to eventually draw young people from across Latin America to take part in leadership training, Goicoechea said.

Asked his views on the state of democracy in Venezuela, Goicoechea said he is concerned about the concentration of power under Chavez and an absence of checks and balances.

"It's growing dangerously close to a totalitarian regime," he said.

There was no immediate reaction from the government. Chavez denies that personal freedoms are being restricted by his government and says student leaders are being manipulated by the United States.

Goicoechea, who says he regularly receives threats by phone and e-mail due to his activism, said he isn't particularly concerned what the government might say about the award from a U.S.-based organization.

"The government already says we're financed by the CIA. It already says we're paid by the empire. So if they say it one more time, it really isn't that important," he said.

The Cato Institute, a nonprofit public policy research foundation that lobbies for individual liberty and free markets, says it accepts no government funding.

Goicoechea is to be presented with the award next month in New York. The prize is named after Nobel Prize-winning economist Milton Friedman, who died in 2006.

Bolivar Peak Is Melting

Scientifics from the Venezuelan Institute for Scientific Investigation (IVIC) has said, according to a series of deep explorations that over the last 30 years, the Bolivar Peak (Pico Bolívar), the highest mountain in Venezuela has been melting.

The Pico Bolívar is the highest mountain in Venezuela, at 4,981 meters. Located in Mérida State, its top is permanently covered with Névé snow and three small glaciers. It can be reached by means of the Mérida Cable Car, the highest cable car in the world, which departs from the homonymous city. Pico Bolívar is named after the Venezuelan independence hero Simon Bolívar.

According to experts, 70% of Bolivar Peak has been affected by a de-glaciation, consequence of the Global Warming. The snow and the glaciers could disappear completely in about 15 years, said Carlos Ferrer, an investigator from ULA University.

Chavez Regime Breaking & Entering House of Major TV Presenter

Chavez Regime breaking and entering into Marieta Santana's House, one of the most popular TV host of Venezuela, quite like Oprah.

Marietana Santana has a talk show in RCTV (coindicence?) called 'A Puerta Cerrada' (At Closed Door) when she discuss with people and guests differnts topics, specially social.

According to a statement gave by Mrs Santana on RCTV, Metropolitan Police or at least persons hidden under that Police uniform (acting under the orders of the Ministry of Interior and Justice, in charge of a FARC member) approach her house and because she denied to let them in, they broke the entrance and with their faces cover with masks, entered into her house search for papers, and others.

Last year, Marieta Santana was fired from the TV station she was working (La Tele, under Chavez influences) because she attended several rallies in support of RCTV, back to those days when Chavez Regime shutdown that TV station, the most popular and viewable of Venezuela, with high ratings all day.

Updated: Yesterday, another journalist received the same treatment in Lara state. She was investigating a general.

Is Hugo Chavez Friends with FARC?

Today, the president or secretary or whatever, the leader of the OAS, José Miguel Insulza (in Spanish means insipid) was interpellated by the US Congress, about the conflict Ecuador - Colombia - Venezuela.

To a question about if Hugo Chavez has relations with terrorism, Mr. Insipid (who is planning his presidential campaign in Chile) definitively respond 'Chavez doesn't support terrorism, there are no prooves'.

Updated: I hear that some 'progressive' journalist named
Greg Palast don't believed this and apparently, although he call himself 'progressive' is ok to supporting Chavez for killing people, arrest political prisoner, and shutdown TV & Radio station, among other things. Not to mention his views about 9/11. This guy is only a Brush critic, also I am, but that doesn't mean I should support a dictator like Hugo Chavez, I wondering if he supports Iran Regime and the assassination of people just because they are gay. Greg, I'm waiting for your respond, oh, also, Have you been in Venezuela?, because you should have lived in Venezuela for the last 2 years at least in order to talk with convincing. Oh, and why don't talk about Fidel Castro, is it OK Fidel Castro?, is Cuba the Heaven on Earth?, why don't you go and live there?

In what World this guy (Mr. Insipid from OAS) is living. I leave you with an article from Germany Magazine Der Spiegel.

Is Hugo Chavez Friends with FARC?

By Jens Glüsing

A spectacular find may prove what many have long suspected. E-mails and other files found on a FARC laptop in the jungles of Ecuador show that Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez may have close relations with the terror group.

When police stormed a house near San José, the capital of Costa Rica, they knew exactly what they were looking for. Immediately, the officers headed for a backroom where they found an old safe packed with bundles of dollars -- wrapped like cocaine in plastic.

Many of the bills were stuck together; some were already so rotten that they could hardly be counted. But the police knew the sum anyway: $480,000 (€305,000). The cash had been mentioned by Raul Reyes -- the number-two man in the Colombian Marxist guerrilla organization known as the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC) -- in an e-mail to Rodrigo Granda, known as the "chancellor" of the rebel group. Granda was to use the money to finance international activities. The address where the stash was to be found was also mentioned in the message.

The $480,000 e-mail was one of hundreds of documents found on Reyes’ laptop. Colombian troops had killed the sleeping guerrilla leader in early March during a pre-dawn bombing raid on a FARC camp in Ecuador -- and secured the laptop. It was found together with three other computers and a number of compact discs in a suitcase that survived the attack.

30 Kilos of Uranium

Interpol specialists are currently analyzing the recovered data. Some of the information has been encrypted, but most of the files are easily accessible. Reyes felt safe in his camp, less than two kilometers (1.25 miles) from the Colombian border. In roughly two weeks, Interpol Secretary General Ronald Noble plans to announce the results of the investigation. But one thing is already clear: the laptops contain a political bombshell. They hold detailed information on FARC's relations outside of Colombia, the group' finances, their smuggling routes and records for cocaine deliveries. There are also details of bomb attacks carried out be the group.

The seized files also allowed police to track down 30 kilos (66 pounds) of uranium, which had been hidden in a village near the Colombian capital Bogotá and possibly belonged to the guerrillas. Although the material is not suitable for manufacturing bombs, it could be used to produce special ammunition capable of piercing armored vehicles. ...

Danny Glover Receives 28 Millions from Chavez for his Next Project

Last year, Chavez Regime gave USD$ 18.000.000 to actor Danny Glover in order to appeared on a Venezuelan co-produced movie about a Haitian independence's leader, François Dominique Toussaint-Louverture.

Yesterday Venezuela National Assembly approves gives him another USD$ 9.840.505 turned Danny Glover participation in this project as the most wealth salary for a male actor, No one in Hollywood has received USD$ 28.000.000 for appeared on a movie I think, just Tom Hanks whose rumors say he signed a USD$ 30.000.000 contract for Da Vinci Code prequel Angels & Demons.

This petition was realized by Venezuelan Treasure Ministry, Chavez Regime created last year the Film Production Company 'Villa del Cine', in order to compete against Hollywood, according to Hugo Chavez.

The first movie from 'Villa del Cine' was released last year 'Miranda Regresa' (Miranda: The Return), the first blockbuster movie in Venezuela, and Danny Glover had a little role in that.

Not enough with this, Venezuela Ministry said there will be free projection of this movie on Television, and community areas, after the movie has released in both Venezuela and USA.

There's no information about how much money Chavez Regime will gain for the co-production of this movie.

Chavez Regime Set Up Revealed

The suppose witness of Danilo Anderson Case, who blamed several persons related to the opposition in Venezuela, including journalist Patricia Poleo (3rd picture on the right above), and several Intelligence Police Commissaries has given an interview and presented to the tribunals to deny everything he said before and confirmed that all was a set up from Chavez Regime.

Lawyer of Giovanni Vasquez (2nd picture on the left above) said the whole set up was planed by Chavez Regime, and Giovanny Vasquez was taken to a Presidential House in La Orchila Island (this Island is exactly as Camp David) in order to negotiate the set up.

Former General State prosecutor Isaias Rodriguez (Former Vice-President also) was the master mind behind the set up and Chavez Regime agreed to pay him 7 MILLION USD, but Chavez Regime only paid USD $500.000, through the Ministry of Interior and Justice.

Patricia Poleo, among the police officers are exiled in USA, but there are other persons detained, including the Guevara Brothers.

Before know this, Isaias Rodriguez gave a press meeting saying these is a 'whole set up' planed by the CIA.

TV station broadcasted a video from a old interview a journalist did to Giovanni Vasquez back in 2006, an in that time he admitted this was a whole set up. People in Venezuela are waiting for a new press meeting from this guy, but apparently he is seeking for a secure place to hide, is very probably that he will looking for an asylum at some embassy. This interview was
presented by Giovanni Vasquez's lawyer and was one of the proofs Giovanni Vasquez presented to the tribunals. Giovanni Vasquez's lawyer also said Giovanni presented a book where is a handwriting of Isaias Rodriguez telling him all he had to do. Giovanni Vasquez also received Dead Threats from Chavez Regime. He also denied he was a part of some Para-military group. He also said Isaias Rodriguez let him carried guns, he also said he has a picture of La Orchila meeting and Hugo Chavez appeared in the picture.

Giovanni Vasquez said Chavez Regime already planed his payment and moving him out the country to a Middle Eastern Country.

Patricia Poleo immediately responded and sent a message through media to current General State Prosecutor Luisa Ortega Diaz, saying 'you have proofs that I'm innocent'. the problem is that Luisa Ortega Diaz is another Chavez unconditional, she was a prosecutor against the commissaries who defended citizen from Chavez group shooting during the April 11th 2002 events.

According to the journalist that did the interview to Giovanni Vasquez, she didn't present that video before because Giovanni Vasquez treated her and pointed her with a gun and sized the video that now it is presented to the media. The original footage was recorded on August 14th, 2006

In this video Giovanni Vasquez let see the Vice-President from that time, Jose Vicente Rangel has something to do with the assassination of Danilo Anderson (1st picture on the left above). At this time we didn't know where is this journalist who did the interview, Mrs. Maria Angelica Correa (2nd picture on the right above).

Below is a video from the interview the Lawyer of Giovanni Vasquez has just did, Giovanni Vasquez is on a hidden place given another interview to 3 journalists that will be broadcasted to the media shortly. Is in Spanish btw, no subtitles.

Hugo Chavez Against 'The Simpsons'

Updated: The director of Conatel said Televen TV station could be closed for 72 hours for broadcasting 'The Simpsons'.

Chavez Regime Commission who regulates the content for Radio & Television opened an investigation file against TV station Televen (a private TV station which manager negotiate with Chavez the censor of opposition information over Chavez Regime stupidities) for the transmission of the popular TV show 'The Simpsons' for its broadcasting on PG audience time.

CONATEL, the Chavez SS for media content said that TV show could violate the law about content forbidden for transmission to General Audience because 'is against the integral formation of children and teenagers'.

General Director of the TV Station whose logo is a big fat RED balloon,
Germán Pérez Nahím said 'The Simpsons' was already TOOK OUT FROM THE TV STATION GENERAL SCHEDULE.

'The Simpsons' was been broadcasting Mondays to Fridays at 11:00am, local time. Instead of the yellow family, Televen will broadcast, listen to this people, Baywatch Hawaii, ok, so instead a funny animated family, people will see on PG audience time, women with bikini's.

'The Simpson' turned out into big rating numbers for this TV station on mornings.

CONATEL in the past already censored some episodes of 'The Simpsons'.

Windows Live Messenger also:

CONATEL also open an investigation against tv channels Globovision, Venevision, Televen, and sport channel Meridiano TV, among with telecoms company Movistar for a commercial of promotion of SMS services to use Windows Live Messengers on mobile phones, because is suppose to be against an article of the 'Social Responsability on Radio and TV' that say all content that promote violation of the 'Transit Law' is forbidden. :S

Chavez Hordes Ready Set for A Civilian War

Popular Caracas 'Barrio' (ghetto) '23 de Enero' is on 'red alert', all access were closed by Chavez mercenaries groups who have taken all ghetto under control. They used to attack opposition groups and scare people like Hezbollah in Lebanon. Military convoys was sight near by but they do nothing. Some early pictures.

These radical groups gave a press meeting, they said it was a 'civilian and revolutionary' strike to protest recent detentions and persecution of people in several 'barrios' in Caracas for being implicated in recent terrorist attacks in Caracas, including the detonation of an explosive in the major Chamber of Commerce Building.

They are heavily armed, even with war ammo like large weapons, grenades, neuro-toxic gas, etc. All of them have been given by Chavez regime, many of those weapons are coming from Iran.

By the way, one of the rebels who made a speech, said there were members from 'Zapatist' group, so I would like to hear what the original Zapatist group in Mexico has to say about this. There are also 'Tupamaros' and followers of 'Lina Ron'.

By the way, it is very interesting that they hide their faces, Hugo Chavez on a speech last year said they don't use that kind of things, they didn't hide their faces, pretty interesting.

Chavez lightly mention this atrocity on a obliged TV & Radio address, he said these groups are 'terrorist groups from the imperialism' (imperialism means USA to Chavez).
